چکیده

We have studied the kinetic inductance fraction (ratio of kinetic inductance to total inductance) of superconducting coplanar waveguides (CPWs) by measuring the resonance frequency of CPW transmission line resonators. We describe a procedure for accurately determining the kinetic inductance of transmission line geometries with small kinetic inductance fractions. In this approach, we compare the temperature dependence of the resonance frequency with that of a resonator of the same film thickness but with a large kinetic inductance fraction. We present data for 200 nm-thick Al CPWs of several geometries and compare that with our own calculations and with calculations found in literature. r 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. Design of a Miniaturized Superconducting Bandpass Filter by Evaluating the Kinetic Inductance in the K-Inverter

We propose a design theory of the miniaturized high temperature superconducting (HTS) coplanar waveguide (CPW) bandpass filter (BPF), which is composed of meanderline quarter-wavelength resonator, Jand K-inverters. The Jand K-inverters are realized by using interdigital gap and meander-shape inductor. To evaluate the kinetic inductance of the K-inverter, we fabricate the YBCO resonator connecte...

Parametric amplification with weak-link nonlinearity in superconducting microresonators

Nonlinear kinetic inductance in a high Q superconducting coplanar waveguide microresonator can cause a bifurcation of the resonance curve. Near the critical pumping power and frequency for bifurcation, large parametric gain is observed for signals in the frequency band near resonance. We show experimental results on signal and intermodulation gain which are well described by a theory of the par...

Superconducting Microstrip-Fed Antenna Coupled to a Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector

A proper antenna to couple to a microstrip Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector (MKID) is designed and simulated. A twin-slot microstrip-fed inline antenna is designed for frequency band of 600-720~GHz integrated with an elliptical lens and coupled to the MKID. A systematic design procedure for design of such antenna with microstrip inline feeding is presented. Whole structure of lens and twin...

Analysis and calibration techniques for superconducting resonators.

A method is proposed and experimentally explored for in-situ calibration of complex transmission data for superconducting microwave resonators. This cryogenic calibration method accounts for the instrumental transmission response between the vector network analyzer reference plane and the device calibration plane. Once calibrated, the observed resonator response is analyzed in detail by two app...

Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs) for the SAFARI Instrument on SPICA

Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs) with frequency domain read-out are intrinsically very suitable to use as building blocks for very large arrays. KIDs therefore are an attractive detector option for the SAFARI instrument on SPICA, Millimetron and also for large scale ground based imaging arrays. To study the properties of large KID arrays we have fabricated 400 pixels array made from 40 nm th...
